Hakim meaning
Hakim (حکیم) is a Muslim boy's name of Arabic origin (Urdu usage).
Wise, knowing; one who acts soundly; later a physician
Also used to mean: doctor
Hakim (حکیم) is Arabic ḥakīm, from the root ḥ-k-m, which has to do with judgement and wisdom. Lane's lexicon defines ḥakīm as wise or knowing, one who handles affairs soundly and skilfully, and records the later senses of philosopher and physician. In the Quran al-Ḥakīm, "the Wise", is one of God's names, as in "You are the All-Knowing, the Wise" (2:32). In India hakim is also the everyday word for a physician of Unani medicine. A similar word, ḥākim, means a ruler; the name Hakim is the "wise" word.
