Megha meaning
Megha (मेघा) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, मे, it is a Simha rashi name (Magha nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
A cloud
Megha (मेघा) is the girls' form of Sanskrit megha, a cloud. In Sanskrit megha is a masculine noun, and Monier-Williams has no separate feminine meghā; giving the word a long final vowel to make a girl's name is a modern Indian usage. The dictionary also lists megha as the name of a rāga, one of the classical melodic modes. In Indian poetry the rain cloud is a welcome sight that brings the monsoon, and Kalidasa's Meghadūta, "the cloud messenger", is built around a cloud asked to carry a lover's message north to the Himalayas. Name lists give Megha as "cloud", sometimes "rain cloud", in line with the dictionary.
