Kriya meaning
Kriya (क्रिया) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin.
Action, deed, work; a religious rite
Also used to mean: sacred ritual
Kriya (क्रिया) is Sanskrit kriyā, from the verb kṛ, "to do, to make". Monier-Williams gives doing, performing and action in general, bodily exercise, the verb in grammar, medical treatment, and a religious rite or ceremony. In yoga the word names a practice or technique, as in Kriya Yoga, made widely known by Paramahansa Yogananda. Name lists give "action" or "sacred ritual", matching the dictionary. In Hindi kriyā is still the ordinary word for a verb and for an action.
