Micah meaning
Micah is an international and Christian boy's name of Hebrew origin.
Short form of Mikayah, "who is like Jah?"
Micah comes from Hebrew Mikhah, which Strong's describes as a shortened form of Mikhayah, 'who is like Jah?'. The question form is a way of praising God, and it is the same idea found in Michael, 'who is like God?'. The best-known bearer is the prophet Micah, one of the twelve minor prophets, whose book asks only that people do justice, love kindness and walk humbly with their God. Brown-Driver-Briggs lists six other men of the name in the Old Testament. Baby-name lists give 'who is like God?', which matches. It is said MY-kuh.
