Mimansa meaning
Mimansa (मीमांसा) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, मी, it is a Simha rashi name (Magha nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Profound thought, reflection, investigation; a school of philosophy
Mimansa (मीमांसा) is Sanskrit mīmāṃsā, a desiderative noun from the root man, "to think", so in effect the wish to think something through. Monier-Williams cites it from the Śatapatha Brāhmaṇa for profound thought, reflection, consideration and investigation. It is also the name of one of the six orthodox schools of Indian philosophy, Pūrva Mīmāṃsā, devoted to interpreting the Veda, especially its ritual portions; Britannica names Jaimini, author of the Mīmāṃsā-sūtra, as the school's greatest philosopher. Modern Hindi keeps the everyday sense of careful deliberation or critical study. Name lists give Mimansa as "inquiry" or "reflection", in line with the dictionary.
