Navami meaning
Navami (नवमी) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin.
The ninth day of a lunar fortnight
Navami (नवमी) is the Sanskrit name for the ninth day of either half of the lunar month. It is the feminine of navama, "ninth", from nava, "nine", and Monier-Williams gives it with tithi, "lunar day", understood. Several of the Hindu year's great festivals fall on a navamī: Rāma Navamī celebrates the birth of Rāma, and Mahā Navamī is the ninth day of Navarātri, dedicated to the goddess Durgā. A girl born on one of these days is sometimes named Navami. A few name lists give "new", but that is a different word, nava.
