Nishi meaning
Nishi (निशि) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin.
At night (locative of niś, 'night')
Nishi (निशि) is a Sanskrit form of the word for night. The noun niś, "night", appears mostly in a few short forms, and the commonest is niśi, "at night", as in niśi niśi, "night after night", in the Laws of Manu. Monier-Williams links niś with niśā, the usual word for night, which gives the name Nisha. Name lists give Nishi as "night", in line with the dictionary. It is a short name used in Gujarat and North India. It is unrelated to the Japanese word nishi, "west".
