Panchali meaning
Panchali (पांचाली) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, पा, it is a Kanya rashi name (Uttara Phalguni nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
A princess of the Panchalas, especially Draupadi; also a doll
Also used to mean: from panchala
Panchali (पांचाली) is the feminine of pāñcāla, "belonging to the Pañcāla people", whose kingdom lay in the Ganga plain. Monier-Williams gives pāñcālī as a princess of the Pañcālas, above all Draupadī, the daughter of King Drupada of Panchala and wife of the five Pandavas in the Mahabharata. The word also named a style of poetry and, in the lexicons, a doll or puppet. Name lists give Panchali as "from Panchala" or simply as a name of Draupadi; some explain it through pañca, "five", but the dictionary ties it to the kingdom.
