Parmeet meaning
Parmeet (ਪਰਮੀਤ) is a Sikh unisex name of Punjabi origin, used for both girls and boys.
Param (highest, supreme) joined with mīt (friend)
Parmeet (ਪਰਮੀਤ) joins two words that run all through the Guru Granth Sahib. Param means supreme, highest or foremost, and the Mahan Kosh also uses it as a noun for the Creator, the Supreme Being. Mīt is a friend, from Sanskrit mitra, and the Mahan Kosh notes that it too can stand for the Creator, the friend who does good to all beings. Put together, the name means "supreme friend", and some name lists word it as "friend of the Supreme". The compound itself is a modern given name rather than a word found in the scriptures. It is used mainly in Sikh and Punjabi families and is given to both boys and girls.
