Pujan meaning
Pujan (पूजन) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, पू, it is a Kanya rashi name (Hasta nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Reverence, honouring, worship, respect; hospitable welcome
Pujan (पूजन) is the Sanskrit pūjana, from the verb pūj, "to honour, to worship", the same root as pūjā. Monier-Williams gives it as reverence, honouring, worship and respect, and also as a warm welcome given to a guest, and as an object of reverence. In Hindi pūjan is the formal word for an act of worship, as in Lakshmi pūjan at Diwali. Name lists give "worship" or "reverence", the same as the dictionary. The name is used in Gujarat and North India and in Nepal, and is also spelled Poojan.
