Dhairya meaning
Dhairya (धैर्य) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
Firmness, steadiness, courage; calm composure, patience
Dhairya (धैर्य) is the Sanskrit noun dhairya, formed from dhīra, "steady" or "firm". Monier-Williams gives its main sense, common in the Mahābhārata and later poetry, as firmness, steadiness and courage, together with calm composure and patience; in the oldest Vedic texts it meant intelligence or forethought. The idea is courage that stays calm, and in Hindi dhairya is still the everyday word for patience, as in dhairya rakho, "be patient". Name lists give Dhairya as "patience" or "courage", both supported by the dictionary. It is mainly used for boys.
