Senthil meaning
Senthil (செந்தில்) is a Tamil and Hindu boy's name.
Tiruchendur, the shrine of Skanda (Murugan) in Tirunelveli district
Also used to mean: lord murugan
Senthil (செந்தில்) is the Tamil centil, which the Tamil Lexicon defines as the shrine of Skanda at Tiruchendur, on the sea coast of the far south of Tamil Nadu. The word is old: the Lexicon cites it from the Puṟanāṉūṟu, one of the Sangam anthologies, in a line describing Centil as the place where the white-crested waves beat. As a personal name it points to Murugan as the god of this shrine, and name lists simply give it as a name of Lord Murugan. Murugan, an ancient chief deity of the Tamils, was later identified with the North Indian war god Skanda. The Lexicon compares Sanskrit jayantī but states no derivation. Senthilkumar and Senthilnathan are longer forms.
