Smaran meaning
Smaran (स्मरण) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
Remembrance, recollection; mental recitation of a god's name
Also used to mean: remembrance of god
Smaran (स्मरण) is Sanskrit smaraṇa, from the verb smṛ, "to remember". Monier-Williams gives it as the act of remembering, recollection and memory, and also as the mental recitation of the name of a deity, calling upon the name of a god. That devotional sense is central to bhakti practice, where nāma-smaraṇa, remembering the divine name, is a form of worship. Name lists give Smaran as "remembrance" or "remembrance of the divine", matching the dictionary. The same root gives smṛti, memory or tradition, and the girls' name Smriti.
