Vaishnav meaning
Vaishnav (वैष्णव) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
Relating or devoted to Vishnu; a worshipper of Vishnu
Also used to mean: devotee of Lord Vishnu
Vaishnav (वैष्णव) is the Sanskrit vaiṣṇava, the adjective formed from Viṣṇu. Monier-Williams gives it as relating to, devoted to or consecrated to Vishnu, and as a noun a worshipper of Vishnu, noting that the Vaiṣṇavas form one of the great divisions of Hinduism, with sects such as those of Rāmānuja, Madhva, Vallabha and Caitanya. The word is familiar from Vaishnava Jana To, the fifteenth-century Gujarati hymn by Narsinh Mehta that was a favourite of Mahatma Gandhi. Name lists give it as "devotee of Lord Vishnu", matching the dictionary. In Kerala it is often spelled Vyshnav.
