Sonakshi meaning
Sonakshi (सोनाक्षी) is a Hindu girl's name of Hindi and Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, सो, it is a Kumbh rashi name (Purva Bhadrapada nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Golden-eyed: Hindi sonā, gold, with Sanskrit akṣi, eye
Sonakshi (सोनाक्षी) joins Hindi sonā, "gold", with Sanskrit akṣi, "eye", giving "one with golden eyes". Platts records sonā as gold, from Sanskrit suvarṇa, and Monier-Williams gives akṣi simply as "the eye". The compound is modern and mixes a Hindi and a Sanskrit word, the way many newer Indian names do, so it does not appear in the classical dictionaries. Name lists agree on "golden-eyed". A well-known bearer is the Hindi film actress Sonakshi Sinha.
