Taha (طٰہٰ) is formed from two Arabic letters, ṭā and hā, which open the twentieth surah of the Quran and give it its name (20:1). They belong to the "disjointed letters" that begin several surahs, whose meaning most Muslims hold to be known only to God. Name lists often describe Taha as a name of the Prophet and translate it as "pure"; the first is a traditional interpretation, and we found no dictionary basis for "pure". The name is chosen above all for its place in the Quran, like Yaseen.
