Tahir meaning
Tahir (طاہر) is a Muslim boy's name of Arabic origin.
Clean, pure; free from dirt or defilement
Also used to mean: chaste
Tahir (طاہر) is the Arabic ṭāhir, from ṭahura, "to be clean, pure". Lane's lexicon defines it as clean, free from dirt or filth, pure, used of a man and, in the feminine ṭāhira, of a woman; the related ṭahāra is purity, including the ritual cleanliness required for prayer. The Quran says that God loves "those who purify themselves", al-mutaṭahhirīn (2:222). Name lists give "pure", "clean" and "chaste". The name was borne by Tahir ibn Husayn, the ninth-century general who founded the Tahirid dynasty of Khurasan.
