Aftab meaning
Aftab (آفتاب) is a Muslim boy's name of Persian origin.
The sun; also a day
Aftab (آفتاب) is the ordinary Persian and Urdu word for the sun. Steingass's dictionary gives āftāb as the sun, and also a day, with a large family of compounds such as āftāb-jabīn, "with a brow as bright as the sun", and āftāb-rū, "sun-faced". The word was a favourite in titles of honour: the Agra gharana singer Ustad Faiyaz Khan was known as Aftab-e-Mausiqi, "the sun of music". In India the name is used mainly by Muslim families, and also by some Sindhi families, as with the actor Aftab Shivdasani.
