Siraj meaning
Siraj (سراج) is a Muslim boy's name of Arabic origin.
A lamp; also used of the sun
Also used to mean: light
Siraj (سراج) is the Arabic sirāj, "a lamp". Lane's lexicon explains it as a lamp that gives light by night, properly its lighted wick, and notes that the Quran calls the sun a sirāj, as in the verse on the heavens that holds "a lamp and a shining moon" (25:61). The Quran also describes the Prophet as sirājan munīrā, "a light-giving lamp" (33:46). The name often appears in compounds such as Siraj-ud-Daulah, borne by the last independent Nawab of Bengal, and the fast bowler Mohammed Siraj is a well-known modern bearer.
