Niyaz meaning
Niyaz (نیاز) is a Muslim boy's name of Persian origin.
Supplication, prayer; a wish or longing; an offering
Also used to mean: desire
Niyaz (نیاز) is a Persian word that came into Urdu with a cluster of related senses. Platts's dictionary gives it as a petition, supplication or prayer; as an inclination, wish or eager longing; as need; and as a gift or offering. In South Asian Muslim life niyāz is also the familiar word for food or sweets offered in a saint's name and shared out, which follows from the "offering" sense. Name lists give Niyaz as "desire" or "wish". Its opposite, be-niyāz, "without need", describes someone wholly self-sufficient. Another Indian spelling is Niaz.
