Naqi meaning
Naqi (نقی) is a Muslim boy's name of Arabic origin.
Pure, clean; excellent, of the finest quality
Naqi (نقی) is the Arabic naqī, from the root n-q-y, which has to do with cleanness and purity. Platts's Urdu dictionary gives it as pure and clean, and by extension excellent, exquisite and of the finest quality. Name lists give Naqi as "pure", matching the dictionary. In Shia families the name recalls al-Naqī, "the pure", a title of ʿAlī al-Hādī, the tenth Imam, who died at Samarra in 868. In South Asia it is often joined with Ali, as in Ali Naqi.
