Angayarkanni meaning
Angayarkanni (அங்கயற்கண்ணி) is a Tamil girl's name.
She whose eyes are like lovely carp: the goddess Meenakshi
Also used to mean: one with fish-shaped eyes
Angayarkanni (அங்கயற்கண்ணி) is the pure-Tamil name of Meenakshi, the goddess of the great temple at Madurai. The Tamil Lexicon defines it as Mīnākṣī, the fish-eyed goddess, citing the Tevaram verse that places her with Shiva at Alavai, Madurai's old name. The parts are am, "beautiful", kayal, the carp, a fish Tamil poets use for long, lively eyes, and kaṇṇi, "she of the eyes". So the name says the same as Sanskrit Mīnākṣī: the lady whose eyes are like lovely fish. It is a traditional name in Madurai and southern Tamil Nadu.
In Hindu tradition this is a name of Parvati.
