Crystal meaning
Crystal is a Christian girl's name of Greek origin (via English).
Ice; by analogy, rock crystal
Also used to mean: clear
Crystal is the English word used as a name, from Greek krustallos, which first meant ice and then the clear rock crystal that the Greeks thought was ice frozen for ever. Strong's Concordance traces it to kruos, 'frost'. The word appears twice in the Book of Revelation, in the sea of glass 'like crystal' before God's throne and the river of the water of life, 'clear as crystal'. Name lists give 'clear' or 'ice'. Christian families in Kerala, Mangalore and the Northeast use it for girls.
