Draupadi meaning
Draupadi (द्रौपदी) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin.
Daughter of Drupada; the patronymic of Kṛṣṇā, wife of the Pāṇḍavas
Also used to mean: Krishnaa
Draupadi (द्रौपदी) means "daughter of Drupada", the king of Pañcāla. Monier-Williams records it as the patronymic of Kṛṣṇā, the dark-complexioned princess born from a sacrificial fire, who married the five Pāṇḍava brothers. She is one of the central figures of the Mahabharata: her humiliation in the dice game, and Krishna's protection of her, lead directly to the great war. She is admired for her intelligence, courage and outspokenness, and she is worshipped as a goddess in parts of Tamil Nadu. Name lists give "daughter of Drupada". The President of India, Droupadi Murmu, spells it Droupadi.
