Abhaya meaning
Abhaya (अभया) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, अ, it is a Mesh rashi name (Krittika nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Fearless, undaunted; (as a noun) freedom from fear, safety
Abhaya (अभया) is the feminine form of the Sanskrit adjective abhaya, made from a-, "not", and bhaya, "fear". Monier-Williams gives it as fearless and undaunted, and as a noun abhaya means the absence or removal of fear, peace, safety and security, a sense found as far back as the Rig Veda. The same entry lists abhaya as a protective symbol and as a name of Shiva. Abhay is the boys' form of the name; Abhaya is used for girls, particularly in Kerala and Karnataka. The dictionary also records abhayā as a name of the medicinal tree Terminalia chebula.
