Elijah meaning
Elijah is an international and Christian boy's name of Hebrew origin.
Yah is God; my God is the Lord
Also used to mean: my God is Yahweh, the Lord is my God
Elijah is the Hebrew name ʾĒlîyyāhû, made of ʾēl, "God", and Yāh, a short form of the divine name. Brown-Driver-Briggs gloss it "Yah is God", and Strong's Concordance (H452) lists it for the great prophet of the Books of Kings and a few other men. In 1 Kings Elijah confronts King Ahab and the prophets of Baal, and he is later taken up to heaven in a chariot of fire. The New Testament calls him Elias, and the Quran names him Ilyās among the messengers. Eli and Elias are related names, and Elijah is easy for Indian families to say.
