Gurudas meaning
Gurudas (गुरुदास) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
Servant of the guru; name of a teacher
Gurudas (गुरुदास) joins Sanskrit guru, a spiritual parent or teacher, and dāsa, "servant". Monier-Williams records gurudāsa as the name of a teacher mentioned in the introduction to the Guru Gita, the hymn in praise of the guru. Name lists give it as "servant of the guru", matching the parts. Names ending in -das, such as Ramdas and Haridas, express humble devotion, and Gurudas does the same for one's teacher. The name is traditional in Bengal, Goa and Maharashtra, and the closely related Punjabi form Gurdas is used by Sikhs.
