Hamdan meaning
Hamdan (حمدان) is a Muslim boy's name of Arabic origin (Urdu usage).
From ḥamd, 'praise': one given to praise
Also used to mean: praiseworthy, one who praises
Hamdan (حمدان) is an old Arabic personal name formed on ḥamd, "praise", from the root ḥ-m-d that also gives Muhammad, Ahmad, Hamid and Hammad. Lane's lexicon defines ḥamd as praise, eulogy or commendation, the opposite of blame. Lane does not list Hamdan as a word, so the meaning comes from its root; name lists give "praiseworthy" or "one who praises". The name was borne by the Hamdanid rulers of Aleppo and Mosul in the 10th century and by an ancient Yemeni tribe, and it is used by Indian Muslim families.
