Zakir meaning
Zakir (ذاکر) is a Muslim boy's name of Arabic origin.
One who remembers or mentions; one who remembers God
Also used to mean: mindful
Zakir (ذاکر) is the Arabic dhākir, the active participle of dhakara, "to remember, to mention", with the dh pronounced z in Urdu. Lane's lexicon explains dhakara as keeping something in memory, remembering it, and mentioning it; from the same root comes dhikr, the remembrance of God that is central to Sufi practice. The Quran praises "men and women who remember God often", adh-dhākirīna llāha kathīran (33:35). India has two famous bearers: Zakir Husain, the third President of India, and the tabla maestro Zakir Hussain.
