Sajjad meaning
Sajjad (سجاد) is a Muslim boy's name of Arabic origin.
One who prostrates himself much in prayer
Also used to mean: one who prostrates in prayer, devout
Sajjad (سجاد) is the Arabic sajjād, an intensive form built on sajada, "to bow down in prostration". Lane's lexicon records rajul sajjād as a man who prostrates himself much, or often, in prayer; the same root gives sajda, the prostration of prayer, and masjid, the place of prostration, a mosque. Al-Sajjad is the best-known title of Ali ibn al-Husayn, Zayn al-Abidin, the Prophet's great-grandson and the fourth Imam of Shia Islam. The Urdu writer Sajjad Zaheer also bore it.
