Hansa meaning
Hansa (हंसा) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin.
A goose, swan or flamingo; also the soul, the universal spirit
Hansa (हंसा) is the Sanskrit haṃsa, which Monier-Williams gives as a goose, gander, swan or flamingo, the white bird that carries Brahmā and is said in poetry to separate milk from water. The same word is also used for the soul or the universal spirit, and a paramahaṃsa is an ascetic of the highest order. As a girl's name it is used in Gujarati and Marathi families, and name lists give it simply as "swan". Well-known bearers include the reformer Hansa Mehta, who sat in India's Constituent Assembly, and the Marathi film actress Hansa Wadkar.
