Harekrishna meaning
Harekrishna (हरेकृष्ण) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin (Odia usage).
'O Hari, Krishna': hare, the vocative of hari (Vishnu-Krishna), with kṛṣṇa
Harekrishna (हरेकृष्ण, Odia ହରେକୃଷ୍ଣ) takes its form from the devotional chant "Hare Krishna, Hare Rama". Hare is the Sanskrit form used to call on Hari, which Monier-Williams gives as a name of Vishnu and Krishna, so the name reads as a short prayer, "O Hari, Krishna"; some Vaishnava teachers explain hare instead as calling on Radha. Krishna, literally "dark", is the name of Vishnu's most celebrated avatar. In Odisha the name is usually spelled Harekrushna, because Odia says the vowel ṛ as "ru". A famous bearer is Harekrushna Mahatab, the freedom fighter who became the first Chief Minister of Odisha.
In Hindu tradition this is a name of Krishna.
