Nilamadhab meaning
Nilamadhab (नीलमाधव) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin (Odia usage). By its first sound, नी, it is a Vrishchik rashi name (Anuradha nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
A name of Vishnu or Krishna; literally the dark-blue Madhava
Nilamadhab (नीलमाधव, Odia ନୀଳମାଧବ) is Sanskrit nīlamādhava, which Monier-Williams records as a name of Vishnu or Krishna. It joins nīla, "dark blue", with Mādhava, the name of Krishna-Vishnu as a descendant of Madhu. In Odisha the name belongs to the story of Jagannath. The Purushottama Kshetra Mahatmya of the Skanda Purana tells how King Indradyumna searched for Nilamadhava, a deep-blue image worshipped in secret by the Savara chief Vishvavasu, before the deity returned as the wooden image worshipped at Puri. Odia pronounces the Sanskrit v as b, which gives the spelling Nilamadhab. The film director Nila Madhab Panda, maker of I Am Kalam, carries the name.
In Hindu tradition this is a name of Vishnu.
