Jagdish meaning
Jagdish (जगदीश) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
Lord of the world; a name of Vishnu, Shiva and Brahma
Jagdish (जगदीश) is the Sanskrit jagadīśa, made of jagat, "the world", and īśa, "lord". Monier-Williams gives it as "world-lord", a title of Brahmā, of Śiva and of Viṣṇu, citing Jayadeva's Gītagovinda, whose hymn to the ten avatars ends each verse with jaya jagadīśa hare, "victory to Hari, lord of the world". The best-known use today is the evening hymn Om Jai Jagdish Hare, addressed to Viṣṇu and composed by Shardha Ram Phillauri around 1870. Name lists give Jagdish as "lord of the universe", matching the dictionary. Jagadish is the fuller spelling.
In Hindu tradition this is a name of Vishnu.
