Hoor meaning
Hoor (حور) is a Muslim girl's name of Arabic origin.
Women with eyes of intense white and black; maidens of Paradise
Also used to mean: beautiful, maiden of paradise
Hoor (حور) is Arabic ḥūr, the plural of ḥawrāʾ, from the root ḥ-w-r. Lane's lexicon defines ḥawar as a striking contrast in the eye, intense white around an intensely black centre, and says women with such eyes are likened to gazelles. The Quran uses ḥūr for the companions of Paradise (55:72, 56:22), the word that reached English as "houri". Name lists give Hoor as "beautiful" or "maiden of paradise". Although plural in Arabic, it is used as a single girl's name in India and Pakistan.
