Jasleen meaning
Jasleen (ਜਸਲੀਨ) is a Sikh girl's name of Punjabi origin.
Absorbed in praise: jas (praise, renown) with līn (absorbed)
Also used to mean: absorbed in god's praises
Jasleen (ਜਸਲੀਨ) is a modern Punjabi compound of jas and līn. Jas, from Sanskrit yaśas, means praise, honour or renown, and occurs in the Japji. Līn, which the Mahan Kosh traces to Sanskrit laya, means merged, absorbed or immersed, deeply engrossed in something, and can also mean dissolved or clinging to. Together they give 'absorbed in praise'. Name lists usually say 'absorbed in God's praises', a devotional reading that suits Sikh usage, though jas on its own simply means praise or renown. Both words appear in the Guru Granth Sahib, but the combined name does not. It is chiefly a Sikh girls' name, usually carried with Kaur.
