Jasvi (जस्वी) is a modern girls' name, used in Gujarati families. Platts's 1884 dictionary records jaswī as "renowned, illustrious", from jas, the Hindi form of Sanskrit yaśas, "fame, glory, good name"; the same family gives Jaswant and Yashasvi. Name lists usually give Jasvi as "bright" or "radiant", and some as "glorious". The last fits the dictionary well, while the sense of brightness seems to be a modern reading. Jashvi is an alternative spelling.
