Jaswant meaning

Jaswant (जसवंत) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.

Possessing glory; renowned, famous, illustrious

Also used to mean: worthy of praise

Jaswant (जसवंत) is the Hindi form of Sanskrit yaśasvat, "glorious, famous, honourable", built on yaśas, "glory, fame". Platts' Hindustani dictionary records jaswant as possessing honour or glory, renowned, famous, celebrated and illustrious, and Monier-Williams adds splendid and excellent for the Sanskrit word. Name lists give "famous" or "worthy of praise", which fit. The name has long been used by Rajput families, as with Maharaja Jaswant Singh of Marwar in the 17th century, and it is also used by Sikhs. Yashwant is the Marathi form.
