Jheel meaning
Jheel (झील) is a Hindu girl's name of Hindi origin.
A lake, a pool
Also used to mean: silent lake
Jheel (झील) is the everyday Hindi word for a lake. Platts's 1884 Hindi and Urdu dictionary defines jhīl as a pool or shallow lake, and also a marsh. Name lists give it as "lake" or, more poetically, "silent lake", which adds an image the word itself does not carry but does not change its sense. Lakes such as Dal Lake and Naini Lake are called jhīl in Hindi, so the name brings to mind still water and hills. It is a short, modern-sounding name.
