Khem meaning
Khem (खेम) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, खे, it is a Makar rashi name (Shravana nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Safety, peace, wellbeing (Hindi form of kṣema)
Khem (खेम) is the Hindi form of Sanskrit kṣema, with the regular change of kṣ to kh, and Platts's Hindustani dictionary lists khem simply as a variant of kshem. Monier-Williams defines kṣema as safety, tranquillity, peace, rest, security, welfare and happiness, and records the ancient pairing yoga-kṣema, 'rest and exertion, enjoying and acquiring'. Kṣema is also personified as a son of Dharma, and kṣemā is a name of Durgā. The word lives on in the familiar Hindi phrase kshem-kushal, safe and well, which Platts also records as khem-kuśal. As a name Khem has an older, traditional feel, and it often appears in compounds such as Khemraj and Khemchand.
