Mehboob meaning
Mehboob (محبوب) is a Muslim boy's name of Arabic origin.
Loved, beloved, liked, approved
Mehboob (محبوب) is the Arabic maḥbūb, "beloved", from the root ḥ-b-b of ḥubb, "love". Lane's lexicon gives maḥbūb with ḥabīb as a person loved, beloved, liked or approved, and notes that maḥbūb is the form in general use. In Urdu poetry maḥbūb is the classic word for the beloved. Name lists give the meaning as "beloved" or "dear", matching the dictionary. A famous bearer is Mehboob Khan (1907–1964), director of the film Mother India. Mahboob and Mahbub are other spellings, the latter mainly in Bengal.
