Faiz meaning
Faiz (فیض) is a Muslim boy's name of Arabic origin.
Abundance; a large gift; also a river
Also used to mean: successful, victorious
Faiz (فیض) is the Urdu pronunciation of the Arabic fayḍ, from fāḍa, "it overflowed, poured forth from fullness, became abundant". Lane gives fayḍ as a river, or water that overflows, and also as abundance and a large gift; said of a man, it means bountiful. The verb occurs in the Quran at 5:83, of eyes overflowing with tears. Many name lists today give Faiz as "successful" or "victorious". That sense belongs to a different Arabic word, fāʾiz (فائز), from fāza, "he attained, gained or won", which is also written Faiz in English; the word فیض itself means overflowing abundance. Its best-known bearer is Faiz Ahmad Faiz (1911–1984), the Urdu poet of the Progressive Writers' movement, famous among other things for his prison poems.
