Neminath meaning
Neminath (नेमिनाथ) is a Jain boy's name of Sanskrit origin (Jain usage). By its first sound, ने, it is a Vrishchik rashi name (Anuradha nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Lord Nemi, the 22nd Jain Tirthankara; nemi, rim of a wheel
Neminath (नेमिनाथ) means "Lord Nemi": nātha is a protector or lord, and Monier-Williams gives nemi as the felly or rim of a wheel and, among the Jains, as the name of the twenty-second Arhat. Neminātha, also called Ariṣṭanemi, is the twenty-second Tirthankara of the present age. Britannica describes him as a legendary figure whose emblem is the conch; Jains regard Krishna as his cousin, and believe he attained liberation on Mount Girnar in Gujarat, still a major place of pilgrimage. Jain stories tell how he renounced the world on his wedding day, moved by the animals waiting to be slaughtered for the feast. The name is used by Jain families.
