Parv meaning
Parv (पर्व) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
Festival, holiday; a joint or knot; a section of a book
Also used to mean: sacred occasion
Parv (पर्व) is the Sanskrit parvan. Monier-Williams gives its first sense as a knot or joint, as in a stalk of sugarcane, and from there a division or section, which is why the eighteen books of the Mahabharata are called parvans. It also means a fixed point in time, the sacred days of the moon's phases, and a festival or holiday. In Hindi parv is the everyday word for a festival. Name lists give "festival" or "sacred occasion", which matches the dictionary. It is a short, modern name.
