Pavak meaning
Pavak (पावक) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, पा, it is a Kanya rashi name (Uttara Phalguni nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Pure, clear, bright, shining; fire, the god of fire
Also used to mean: purifier
Pavak (पावक) is the Sanskrit pāvaka, from the verb pū, "to purify", the root of pavitra and Puneet. In the Rig Veda it describes Agni, Surya and the waters as pure, clear and shining, and Indian commentators explain it as "the purifier". From there Monier-Williams gives it as fire itself and the god of fire, and as a saint purified by spiritual discipline. The Bhagavad Gita says of the soul that pāvaka, fire, cannot burn it. Name lists give "fire" or "purifier", the same as the dictionary.
