Prateek meaning
Prateek (प्रतीक) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
Symbol, image; face, outward form
Prateek (प्रतीक) is the Sanskrit pratīka. As an adjective Monier-Williams gives it as "turned towards" or "looking at". As a noun it means the outward form, look or appearance of something, the face, and from there an image or symbol. In Vedic study a pratīka is also the opening word or words of a verse, used to quote the whole verse by its first line. The dictionary records Pratīka as the name of a son of Vasu in the Bhāgavata Purāṇa as well. Indian name lists give the name as "symbol", which matches the dictionary, and Prateek and Pratik are its two usual English spellings.
