Sasirekha meaning
Sasirekha (शशिरेखा) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin (Telugu usage).
A streak or digit of the moon; a woman's name
Also used to mean: crescent moon
Sasirekha (शशिरेखा) joins śaśin, a poetic name for the moon, "the hare-marked", with rekhā, "a line or streak". Monier-Williams gives the compound as a streak or digit of the moon, the thin crescent, and as a woman's name in the Kathāsaritsāgara. In Telugu homes the name recalls Sasirekha, daughter of Balarama, whose marriage to Abhimanyu is the subject of the folk tale Sasirekha Parinayam and of the classic 1957 film Mayabazar. Shashirekha is the usual spelling elsewhere.
