Ratri meaning
Ratri (रात्रि) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, रा, it is a Tula rashi name (Chitra nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Night, often personified
Ratri (रात्रि) is the Sanskrit word for night, also written rātrī. Monier-Williams notes that night is often personified in the Vedas, and that tradition names Rātri as the authoress of Rigveda 10.127, a hymn addressed to Night. The word appears in the name of the festival Navaratri, "nine nights", and in everyday Hindi. Name lists give Ratri simply as "night". As a given name it shares its meaning with Rajni.
