Ugrasen meaning
Ugrasen (उग्रसेन) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, उ, it is a Vrishabh rashi name (Krittika nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Having a formidable army; name of several princes
Also used to mean: king of Mathura, one with a powerful army
Ugrasen (उग्रसेन) is the Sanskrit Ugrasena, made of ugra, "powerful, fierce", and senā, "army", so it describes a ruler with a formidable army. Monier-Williams records it as the name of several princes. The best known is King Ugrasena of Mathurā in the Mahābhārata and the Purāṇas, the father of Kaṃsa: his son overthrew and imprisoned him, and after Kṛṣṇa killed Kaṃsa he restored Ugrasena to the throne. It should not be confused with Agrasen, the legendary king of the Agrawal community.
