Vaishali meaning
Vaishali (वैशाली) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin.
Daughter of the king of Viśālā; the ancient city Vaiśālī
Also used to mean: ancient city of vaishali, prosperous
Vaishali (वैशाली) is Sanskrit vaiśālī, the name of the ancient city in present-day Bihar said to have been founded by King Viśāla. Monier-Williams also records it as the name of a princess of Viśālā and of a wife of Vasudeva. The king's name, viśāla, means "wide, spacious, great, illustrious". Vaishali is remembered in Jain tradition as the birthplace of Mahavira and in Buddhist texts as a city the Buddha often visited. Some name lists add "prosperous"; that is a modern gloss rather than a dictionary sense.
